Applicant Cathloc Health have proposed the construction and operation of a 108 bed residential aged care facility on Morpeth Road, as part of Closebourne Village Estate.
A statement of environment impacts said the new facility will include “adaptive re-use” of Closebourne House and Arkell House.
“The residential care facility will increase the seniors housing supply to assist meeting the needs of the ageing population within the Maitland LGA,” the document said.
“The development will provide a positive development outcome for the site from a heritage perspective.”
The facility will consist of six wings consisting of 72 high care units and 36 dementia specific care units. It will provide residents with meals, cleaning services, personal care and nursing care.
It will also include support spaces, back of house services, staff areas and offices plus the construction of three vehicle access points and parking for 35 vehicles.
The development application will be on display until February 14.
