Maitland’s under-15s are top of their table, the under-14 and 16s are second and the under-13s are third, just 0.5 points behind the top two. The under-12s are sixth but have two wins from their five games.
The under-15s kept their unbeaten record in a thriller, beating Penrith by one run.
Jay Boyd was thrown the ball to bowl with Penrith needing seven runs to win. Boyd took a wicket off his fourth ball and conceded four runs off the first five, leaving Penrith needing two to tie and three to win.
The ball was hit just off the square for a single, before the Penrith batsman was run out at the keeper’s end trying for a second run.
Baylee Borrow made 45 and Jed Collins 25 in Maitland’s 6/116. Collins took 2-28 in Penrith’s 8/115.
Patrick Emmett was the individual star of the round taking 5-14 in the under-13s win against Central Coast.
Central Coast were all out for 82 in the 48th over. Thomas Thorpe top-scored with 25 as Maitland make 7/83 in reply reaching their target in 42.3 overs.
The under-13s have three rounds remaining. Maitland is just 0.5 points behind North Shore and Blacktown.
In under-12s, Jett Saxby top scored with 24 and Thomas Long took 3-8 as Maitland pushed the unbeaten Manly Warringah at Norm Chapman Oval on Sunday.
Maitland batted first and made 10/82 from their 30 overs. Manly Warringah made 5/86 in reply to run out victors.
The under-14s had a win and a loss from their two games on Sunday. Noah Fisher was Maitland’s best across the two games taking two wickets in each.
Newcastle made 5/134 from 16 overs and Maitland made 7/125 in reply with Patrick Stewart top scoring with 36 and Joseph Hancock and Thomas Porter both making 18.
In the second game Maitland batted first and made 3/105 against Central Coast. Porter finished on 35 not out, Hancock also made 35 and Stewart was run out for 22.
Maitland restricted Central Coast to 6/97. Noah Fisher took 2/21 and James Green 2-9.
Maitland’s under-16 game against top-side Sutherland was abandoned because of heat after Sutherland made 7/161. Alex Lidbury took 3-16 and Ryan Wind 3-15.
