Now the six young women in the 2019 Maitland Showgirl and Miss Maitland competition will take to the stage at Maitland Show on Friday night for the final presentation.
One of the entrants will become the showgirl and two others will receive the runner-up and third place sashes.
Showgirl coordinator Margaret Enright said the entrants spoke about themselves during the gala night last weekend and also answered questions about their goals and love for their community.
"You can tell the difference in a girl that has come back again the following year, they have a lot more confidence because they have already been through the judging process."
Miranda O'Brien, the 2017 Maitland Showgirl, stepped into a judging role this year and was grateful six young women entered the self-development program.
"They all did such a fantastic job at the gala night, I was very impressed," she said.
All of the girls have become really close friends and they chat to one another now, it's not actually like a big competition, whoever wins they will all congratulate one another,
- Mrs Enright said.
"Even though some of them may not have a complete agriculture background you could see a passion growing inside them for agriculture and a love for the showgirl movement.
Meet the 2019 entrants:
I hope they will keep up the confidence they have found and keep growing their passions and confidence and return next year.
