Courtesy of 10 points from their nine-wicket second innings win, the Plovers jumped to third place on the ladder on 47 points, one win behind joint-leaders Thornton and City United who are both 53 points and assured of finals action now.
An elated Wests co-skipper Mitchell Fisher said one more win from their final two games would ensure they made finals for the first time since winning the premiership in 2015-16.
”We probably still have to win one more game but if we can get that done we should make finals,” Fisher said.
“We go on to Easts next week, who have got a few blokes who can take the match away from you fairly quickly.
“It’s their Old Boys Day as well so we better make sure we bring our best game.
“We don’t want to rely on other results, so if we win our last two we don’t have to worry about anything, we’ll be playing semi-finals.”
For the second round in a row Fisher was the star with the bat making 84 to ensure first innings points and then a lead for his side.
After Joel Connell provided Fisher with support in last round’s win against City United, Riley Harrison showed real form with the bat making 55.
“We got the 60 in 11 or 12 overs with the loss of one wicket and then we pushed on probably got bowled out with 55 overs left in the day.
“We bowled them out with 25 overs to go, needing 89 for an outright win.

“We chased it one down, for a nine-wicket win. Shannon Threlfo was 36 and Tony Fuller 26 when we reached the target.”
The wickets were shared around, with Luke Kealy picking up three and Fisher and Connell both collecting two.
“We played well, we fielded well and took our catches,” Fisher said.
“We’ve got a few blokes scoring runs and myself and Luke Kealy taking wickets.
“Keals has been exceptional, he is our leading wicket taker and deserves it thoroughly, he has bowled very well. If it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t be in the position we are now.
Wests face Raymond Terrace in the final round at Jack Collins Oval.
