"I've been playing cricket for a lot of years and with Norths that win was definitely in my top three games as far as exciting games to be involved in," Wilson said.

"I said to the younger boys in the team to savour this one as these type of games are few and far between. It was a special win."

Special and entirely improbable as City United manged to lose 5/8 and go from cruising to victory at 5/108 chasing 120 to win to be all out for 116.

"The wicket was affected by the rain and playing all sorts of tricks so a collapse was always on the cards," City United skipper Matt Trappel said.

"But losing 5-8 was certainly not good enough on our part, but when momentum starts in that sort of situation it can be hard to stop."

Runs were certainly difficult to score with only three City batsman reaching double figures. Trappel made 36, before being trapped lbw by Lincoln Mills to end City's innings, his brother Josh top scored with 43 and Nick Bower made 10. 

Norths shared the wickets with Ben Sayers and Ian Woods both playing critical roles picking up three wickets each in the tense finish.

"It was another exciting game to be involved in after last week's game against Easts. This time unfortunately we were on the losing side," Trappel said.

"Thanks to our efforts earlier in the season we are guaranteed a spot in the finals and can finish minor premiers or as low as third.

"I won't take too much from this game as far as form, the pitch had too much to do with the outcome to take anything from it.

"Full credit to Norths they played very well right to the end to get the win. It keeps them in the race for a finals spot."

Wilson said it was an important win in the evolution of what was a new Norths first grade outfit.

"That was our biggest celebration together as a group, it really meant a lot to us all and brought us closer as a unit," he said. "A win like that is special to share with a group.of teammates."
