The GPS delivered the driver technically to Horseshoe Bend, but on the wrong side of the Hunter River.
Maitland Mercury sports reporter Michael Hartshorn had a double take as the van pulled up in front of his neighbour's house in Roy Street.
"Lorn is Maitland Blacks and rugby country. You don't see Sharks emblazoned vans in our streets very often," Hartshorn said
"In fact as far as I know I'm the only person along with Maitland Pickers Old Boys president Pat Warby to even have a Maitland Pickers sticker on their car in Lorn.
"Thankfully he asked for directions to the Maitland Sportsground and not the footy as he could have ended up at Marcellin Park and lost again."
The main game between the Knights and Sharks kicks off at 5.30pm at Maitland Sportsground.
- 1:30pm: Knight Jersey Flegg v Cronulla.
- 3:15pm: Knight ISP v Newtown.
- 5.30 pm: Knights NRL v Sharks.
