Wests bowlers have plenty of runs to play with after co-captains Tom Irwin with 85 and Mitchell Fisher 71 not out and opener Shannon Threlfo 51 fired to help the Plovers post 5/249 against Raymond Terrace.
"For us this is a semi-final. We wanted everyone to value their wicket, to not throw their wicket away and bat for long periods," Irwin said.
"It's now up to our bowlers to get the wickets and for Kurri Weston to beat Norths."
Kurri Weston booked their spot in the finals after claiming first innings points against Northern Suburbs. They managed just 113 on an uneven bouncing pitch but then dismissed Norths for 87.
The Warriors resume on 0-6 and Norths can still make the finals if they pull off a second innings victory and collect six points.
