Campese was at Marcellin Park last night for a coach the coaches session with Maitland Blacks mentors.
Campese who is working in conjunction with the Australian Rugby Foundation and the Classic Wallabies said it had been great to get back and support the game he loved and to hopefully influence a return to the style of rugby which had made the Wallabies such a great team in the past.
"I think we're trying to get back to the way like we used to play, just quick hands, see what's in front and having a go. Instead of running into players, try running around them," Campese said of his approach to the training session.
"I will normally ask the coaches what they want me to take them through."
"What I try to emphasise a lot is about repetition, catch, pass. To do the exercise correctly, if they're doing the exercise wrong to pull them up and keep on doing it until they get it right.
"You can't go A,B,C, Z. You need to go A,B,C,D and do it 100 times.
"I try to do a couple of sessions on basic skills. Trying to get players to have a look of what is in front of them now rather than all watching the ball.
"Just a few little simple things, but again I like to ask the coaches as they know the issues that are challenging them and we can find some exercises to help."
