The nightmarish run of bad luck started with the death of Kimbalee Hodges' adored father in January.

"I am an only child. My mum died in 2016, and she was a massive community figure in Greta so it was a big loss," Ms Hodges said. 

"And then I lost my Dad in January so I had to plan the funeral and now trying to sort out his house. It was a tough time."

But fate wasn't done with her, and Ms Hodges was devastated after thieves ransacked her family home.

"I came home about three weeks ago, and saw someone had broken in," she said. 

"It was a big blow because they took my mum's doll collection and my coin collection - which had been my grandfather's.

"They aren't things with much worth but they had sentimental value."

But the nightmare wasn't over yet for Ms Hodges.

A short time later, the high school teacher received a call from a neighbour alerting her that her father's beloved caravan was missing.

Devastated by the final blow, Ms Hodges took to social media in hopes of finding the caravan. 

"I wanted to make whoever did it feel bad so I put up the signs," she said.

The social media post went viral with nearly 1500 shares on Facebook in just five days. Finally, a light appeared at the end of the tunnel. 

In the early hours of Wednesday morning a phone call from the police awoke Ms Hodges, the caravan had been found.

"They had found the caravan on Lovedale Road on the boundary of Greta and East Maitland. I couldn't believe it," she said. 

Ms Hodges said she was "overwhelmed" by the response from the community - in reality and online.

"I just want to thank the Greta community," she said. 

"I did not expect it to go viral. I feel like I've done Dad justice, and feel like I've gotten it back for him. It was important to get it back.

"I am very relieved and thankful to be in the thoughts of people."

Now, Ms Hodges is hoping to create her own memories with her Dad's beloved caravan.
