Motorists in NSW and the ACT are reminded to keep safety first as Easter approaches and families travel to gather for the long weekend.
Double demerits will be in place for eight days during this month's Easter and Anzac Day holiday period.
Double demerits will start on Thursday, April 18, and continue through to Monday, April 22.
They will cease for Tuesday, April 23, before commencing again on Wednesday, April 24, continuing through to Sunday, April 28.
Double demerit points apply for speeding, seatbelt, motorcycle helmet and mobile phone offences during all holiday periods including long weekends, Christmas, New Year and Easter.
There can be large penalties for motorists caught using their phones during a double demerit period.
They can expect to receive a fine and up to 10 demerit points.
