The 450cc Outlaw Kart division was won by Darren Bessant. The Beresfield driver won all three heats and the A Main completing an undefeated performance.

Calling on his vast speedway experience, Bessant stamped his authority on the day and will clearly prove to be hard to beat in the Series.

Early favourite for the division, Geoff Griffin from Lambs Valley had a day he would rather forget when he was plagued with mechanical problems. He failed to finish in all three heats.

"It's been a very frustrating day and our team just hasn't been able to get on top of our troubles," said a bitterly disappointed Grifiin.

"We know we can do better and we're determined to turn things around in a couple of week's time."

It was a similar day for speedway solo rider turned Outlaw Kart driver, Mason Campton.

Competing in the top division, Campton was raising eyebrows with his performance but he, too, was plagued with mechanical issues. He failed to finish in his first heat and after taking the lead in his second heat, he met the same fate and again failed to finish.

After failing to finish in his first heat race, Sawyers Gully driver Darren Todd won the 125cc Outlaw Kart division. He recovered from the disappointment of his first heat result to win both of the remaining heats and capped off the day with a win in the A Main.

Joel Robertson outclassed the field in the Flat Kart division completing the day undefeated with three heat wins and victory in the A Main.

NSW Outlaw Karts Club secretary Jonathan Koop-Folkes was delighted with the club's inaugural race day.

"We've broken the ice and the day has met all of our expectations," he said. "It was a positive start giving our hard working officials and volunteers encouragement to grow the sport in NSW."

Round 2 of the 2019 Robert Guy and Son Series will be held at Kurri Kurri Speedway on Saturday, April 27.
