Hunter New England Health has released images and video showing more insight into the design of the $470 million facility, outlining health services, including the region's first chemotherapy service.

The video shows the various steps involved in the creation of the building.

Residents had another sneak a peek at the new construction with a Stockland Green Hills pop-up stall.

"Congratulations to the local community and all of the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff who have worked so hard, together with the project team, to bring this exciting new hospital to life," Health Minister Brad Hazzard said.

"Very soon, the Maitland community will have a world-class hospital with health services and facilities of which everyone can be proud.

"The new hospital will include a new emergency department and expanded surgical theatres, maternity and paediatric services and will create almost 5000 indirect and direct new jobs. The hospital will also offer chemotherapy services for the first time."

The new hospital will include a new emergency department, mental health services, palliative care and a maternity wing.
