The New England Highway was blocked off as veterans and other community groups marched down to the cenotaph for the service.
As with other services around Maitland, plenty of school kids came forward to lay wreaths in honour of those who were willing to risk their lives fighting for their country.
The East Maitland service has become a popular one in recent years with increasing crowds commemorating at the memorial.
The main service followed a dawn service, also held at the East Maitland War Memorial.
