There was plenty happening, in Maitland and beyond.
Among other events, Maitland received a visit from the Prince and Princess of Wales, Charles and Diana in March 1983.
These days, traffic concerns are at the front of Maitland residents' minds, and it was in the '80s too.
Do you remember when the construction of the Maitland Bypass was in full swing?
If not, you may still recognise these commons roads and landmarks from the sky.
If you look closely, you can also see the iconic poplar trees which lined The Long Bridge for almost 80 years.
The trees were removed in early 2018, following the discovery of significant rot and decay.
