Police were patrolling just before midnight when they spotted a white Holden Commodore with its front registration plate obscured and no rear plate.
The police car signalled for the Commodore to pull over, but it took off.
Police chased the car through several streets before it went down a laneway between McDonald and Ada streets.
The commodore hit a side fence on McDonald Street then smashed into a parked Nissan X-trail.
The car stopped in front of a house on George Street where two males were seen to flee on foot.
Police spoke to some nearby residents, but did not catch the pair.
The car was seized for forensic examination and inquiries into the incident continue.
Any witnesses who may be able to assist police inquiries are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
