After what feels like an eternity of campaigning with two back to back elections this year, and Clive Palmer propping up billboards before the election date had even been announced, voters will head to the polls tomorrow and it will finally be over for another few years.
But while many of us will hit the schools and halls on Saturday, grabbing a sausage sandwich on the way, many will be going about their weekend as if the election has already ended.
More than 35,000 people had already cast their vote in Paterson before Thursday, taking advantage of a three-week long pre-poll period this time around.
More than 1300 people voted at the East Maitland pre-poll on Wednesday alone.
There has been a fair bit of discussion about that and whether or not it should be allowed to continue.
For some, there is no way they can make it to the booths on Saturday - maybe its a wedding, a day full of sport or an unavoidable shift at work.
But for others, it's just a chance to skip the lines on election day and get it out of the way.
There is no need to provide anything more than a verbal answer as to why one can't vote between 8am and 6pm on Saturday, and sometimes that question isn't even asked.
While it's every person's right to do so, it does beg the question of whether there should be further steps in place for people to vote early.
The smaller parties and independents have also complained that they are disadvantaged by the mammoth pre-poll period.
Having volunteers at multiple booths for three weeks would be harder for those running campaigns while trying to work full-time and on a shoestring budget than it is for the bigger parties with more money and manpower.
While many would say they already know who they're going to vote for well before the election, some politicians also argue it's also robbing them of their chance to campaign properly.
Either way, surely those with valid reasons for not being able to vote on election day would be able to either postal vote, or make it to an early voting location within one or two weeks of the election. It's definitely time for a review into the process, even if that means more election talk after Saturday.
