Despite that, swings against the party are raising eyebrows.
In the seat of Shortland, there is 4.2 per cent swing away from Labor with 13 per cent of the vote counted.
In the seat Paterson, there is a 4.5 per cent swing away from Labor with 12.6 per cent of the vote counted.
There is a 1.6 per cent swing away from Labor with 17.3 per cent of the vote counted in the seat of Newcastle.
In Hunter there is a 8.6 per cent swing away from Labor with 18.1 per cent of the vote counted.
