Corks were popping in ALP heartland yesterday but it wasn't to celebrate Member for Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon's election triumph. The 2019 Lovedale Long Lunch has been hailed as yet another great success with thousands of punters beating a path to the wineries after a visit to the polling booths. Seven wineries opened their doors for the much-loved event including Emma's Cottage, Allandale, Gartelmann, Saltire, Sandalyn, Tatler and Wandin. Gartlemann Wines Event Manager Grant Smith said weather played an important role in the event's success. "We were off to a great start with the weather, sunshine, warmth and some killer bands like All Access 80s," he said. "Everyone was well behaved and the two days were a huge success with about 5000 through Gartelmann Wines on Saturday. "Both days of the event are very different - Saturday is party central and Sunday the demographic changes slightly, the crowds are not as big and it's more of a food and wine event," Mr Smith said. Lovedale Long Lunch Committee is already planning next year's event.
