With a blend of power and finesse, the Jaguares put the Waratahs to the sword in both their previous encounters since entering the competition in 2016 - two high-scoring affairs featuring a glut of tries.

And with five wins from their past six games, including a 28-20 last-start defeat of the high-flying Hurricanes in Wellington, the South Americans will once again be tough to stop at Bankwest Stadium.

"They're extremely talented," Waratahs fullback Kurtley Beale said on Wednesday.

"They're a big mobile forward pack with some zippy backs out wide.

"It brings a lot of unpredictability to their team, and their chip-kicks, their flick passes and their offload game is pretty powerful.

"If we can nullify that and shut that down early and stay in the fight, like we did last week (against Queensland), we will give ourselves a chance."

After six narrow bonus-point losses, Beale hopes the Waratahs' gritty 40-32 comeback win over the Reds on Saturday night proves a turning point in a season so far of mostly missed opportunities.

"Obviously it was a special win for us up in Brisbane, to be able to turn things around," he said after unveiling the Tahs' special jersey to mark Indigenous Round.

"We know it's going to be a tough match against the Jaguares. They're in some pretty fine form at the moment so it's important for us to keep continuing the way we are playing and keep believing and hopefully come away with a good win."

Consistency has proven elusive for the Waratahs this campaign, with Daryl Gibson's 2018 semi-finalists only stringing back-to-back wins together once.

"(We must) just keep believing in ourselves," Beale said.

"We showed that on the weekend and, although it was a tough grinding match, we knew if we stayed in the fight longer we would come away with the win.

"I thought our bench brought a lot of belief and energy into the game and that was a huge difference for us.

"Collectively it is a matter of everyone believing in each other and knowing we have the team to do it."

The Waratahs enter the match three points behind Australia's conference-leading Brumbies with four rounds remaining before the finals.
