Liberal councillor Mitchell Griffin put forward for the notice of motion for the 'dive-in' cinema at the city's pool at a meeting in February.
The concept is based on similar programs currently in use at Blacktown and Cumberland Councils.
As part of these programs, Council would host a number of under the stars cinema experiences at the local pools.
Patrons would bring floating devices such as tubes or floating chairs to the pool to sit in while watching a movie on a big screen.
Councillors will review a report recommends the hosting of a three night pilot program.
