Hunter Valley Grammar School had a successful opening night of their 2019 production of Get Smart on Tuesday.
A cast and crew of 56 students put in a lot of work to prepare the show for an audience, including student director Jacqui Green, student head of props Oscar Varley and student head of costumes Morgan Clyne.
On the stage, Adam Chesher shines as Agent 86, Sarah Higgins plays Miss Finch, Melinda Knight portrays Chief and Bayley Elliott brings Agent 99 to life.
The Year 10, 11, and 12 students have really impressed the show's producer, teacher Jennifer White.
"It shows the [younger] kids what they're capable of doing," the school's head of drama said.
While there were many rewarding moments during rehearsals, a highlight for Ms White was watching the students fall in love with the "hero" of Get Smart and the old '60s television shows.
Planning a production of this size is no small feat, with preparation beginning in February.
However, it is all worth it when the students can share their love of the stage with their audience.
Ms White said members of the public were welcome to watch the performance.
"It's very child friendly and we just love having an audience," she said.
"When you prepare a play, you need an audience."

For student director Jacqui Green, this is a chance to further enhance her skills in a vocation she hopes to chase after school.
Agent 99 actress Bayley Elliott, Year 12, dreams of a career in musical theatre.
"It's a real vehicle for them to get their skills and experience and taste test these roles," Ms White said.
"It's been a lovely project which has involved a lot of students and teachers.
"It's really whole school project."
There are two remaining shows, on May 29 and 30, from 6 to 8pm, including a supper intermission.
Tickets are available online or at the door.
