The event will be held at Fred Harvey Oval, Woodberry where microchipping will be available to all Maitland residents, while pensioners and health care card holders will be eligible to have their pet vaccinated.
The event has been organised by the RSPCA in conjunction with Maitland City Council, with support from Green Hills Veterinary Hospital and Greencross Vets.
Hunter RSPCA manager Debbie Jaggers encouraged eligible pet owners to take part.
"It gives people an extra incentive to get their pet microchipped, so they're less likely to get lost," she said. "And the more animals that are vaccinated, the less likely it is to get disease spreading around the community."
Ms Jaggers said there were always animals in the shelter that were not microchipped.
"Cats tend to be microchipped less than dogs," she said. "There is certainly a real opportunity to improve that."
The event runs 10am-1pm. Bookings are essential for vaccinations and can be made by calling 0432 884 400.
