Maitland City Council discussed at a meeting last night plans to develop a shared pathway between Walka and the Belmore Bridge.
Council's current Delivery Program identifies an action to investigate route options for a shared pathway between the two locations.
In a report council officers said there are a number of factors to be considered in the provision of infrastructure for cycleways with route options being an important, but not the only, consideration. Other factors including need, priority, feasibility, cost and environmental impact will form part of a route analysis.
Council officers have commenced investigation into a number of route options and will now prepare a discussion document and briefing to inform council on what feasible and realistic options are available. It is proposed a briefing will be undertaken prior to a report being prepared.
