Those who watch this one will burn plenty of calories from simply laughing.
This hilarious and inspirational musical comedy rolls into Cessnock on Tuesday, July 9 July at 8pm.
Similar to the ever-popular Menopause The Musical, which played to a packed Cessnock Performing Arts Centre in April, Waistwatchers! The Musical is fast-paced, with lots of energy and a ton of heart.
It pokes fun at a number of familiar obsessions yet ultimately remains uplifting and empowering.
The show premiered in Florida in 2013 where it continued for a total of 28 weeks.
Since 2014, the show has toured to a further 16 venues for a total of 90 weeks with further bookings later in 2018 and 2019.
This year will mark the Australian premiere.
Waistwatchers! The Musical is 90 minutes of non-stop exercise, song, and dance set in Cook's Women's Gym.
The production takes a hilarious and light-hearted look at four women dishing on food, diets, exercise, friendship, love, and sex.
There's Carla, who's hitting the gym so she can eat more chocolate and ice cream, and Cheryl, who's hoping to relieve stress from work and to stay looking good.
Connie is the novice gym-goer who's hoping the workouts will help her recapture that feeling of sexiness she had in her youth.
And rounding out the quartet is Cindy, recently divorced and looking to tone up now that she's single and ready to mingle.
As we watch the ladies share their lives with us, they blossom into stronger women who take ownership of their eating, their bodies, their relationships, and their self-esteem.
It's a celebration of the transformative power of female friendship on the journey to self-acceptance.
Created by Alan Jacobson (book and lyrics) with Vince Di Mura (music), this Australian production is directed by theatre veteran Terence O'Connell with Ana Mitsikas and Suzanne Melloy as Musical Director and Choreographer respectively, Waistwatchers! The Musical will include a talented cast of triple threat Australian performers.
If you loved Menopause The Musical®, don't miss this energetic and fun-spirited musical that takes a light-hearted look at some of our everyday life challenges.
