POLICE are again appealing for public assistance to help locate a man who went missing from the Maitland area.

Michael McGarity, aged 61, was last seen leaving Maitland Hospital about 1.30am Monday.
He has walked out of the hospital and was seen heading towards Telarah.
Police and family hold concerns for his welfare due to his mental state.
On Tuesday officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District conducted an extensive land search around the Telarah and Maitland areas, with the assistance of the NSW Police Dog Unit, Police Rescue, PolAir and police trail bikes but he was not found.
Mr McGarity is known to frequent the Newcastle and North Rothbury areas.
He is described as being of Caucasian in appearance, about 190 centimetres tall with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left lower arm 'TY'.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and white t-shirt with grey jeans and navy-blue shoes.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
