Teacher Ms Coburn gives her students weekly Google Classroom quizzes, in which wrong answers unlock a video of her explaining the concept and how to answer correctly, and has started a YouTube channel called Geography Explained Online.
"Students love that they can rewind, try it again and learn at their own pace and level," she said.
"HSC students would take home past papers... but sometimes there was no way [for them] to work out why they got questions wrong. We're trying to bridge that gap."
She was one of five NSW teachers using creative methods to inspire students to be named winners in the Learning Edge competition, a joint initiative by Teacher's Mutual Bank and the NSW Department of Education.
They received $2000 for hardware and software and visited Google's headquarters on Tuesday to learn from maths teacher Eddie Woo and YouTube content specialists about how to build their presence online and engage new audiences.
