Digging into their vault of VHS best sellers and admired classics has been a successful Walt Disney practice, most recently with the exceptional update of Aladdin.
However this latest, a pristine digital honorable lovingly created version of the 1994 universally adored original, The Lion King, I predict will be the biggest box office gold yet for the mouse house.
And, critically speaking, it's a great film.
The Lion King flashes onto the silver screen in theatres around Australia on the unusual opening day of Wednesday, July 17.
The new version has a star studded A-list cast, including Donald Glover (Simba), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), James Earl Jones (returning as Mufasa), Beyonce (as Nala). Keegan Michael-Key plays Kamara, Billy Eichner is Timon.
The movie is directed by Jon Favreau, who was associated with Iron Man, Avengers, Jungle Book, and Cowboys & Aliens as well as having a long acting career.
Even the most beloved obsessed admirers of the timeless classic will no doubt be enamoured from this nothing short of excellent cinematic production for the entire family.
While the plotline is much the same, the film is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of the original.
As one can imagine, the feel is different. More time is spent on Simba's youth in the storyline, and, of course, there is the voice of Beyonce.
With a massive popcorn in one hand and a choc-top in the other, here are literally a plethora of other movies on show, i actually enjoyed them all !!
