A man has been charged with multiple offences after a large-scale search in Maitland's eastern suburbs which began last week.

The man had been wanted by police after an incident on August 1 when it was alleged that he went to a Thornton property armed with a firearm and had subsequently poured petrol over the front door and threatened to light a fire.
Following extensive inquiries, a 27-year-old man was located and arrested at a property on Cassia Way, Metford about 9.45pm on Friday
He was taken to Maitland Police Station where he was charged with stalking charges, armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, possess an unauthorised firearm, and in relation to an outstanding arrest warrant.
The Metford man was refused bail and is to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Saturday, August 10).
