Just ask Max the Mouse, who celebrated his birthday at the Hunter RSPCA shelter last week with a tasty cupcake in the lead up to RSPCA Cupcake Day, which is on Monday, August 19.
The charity is encouraging animal lovers to bake, decorate and sell cupcakes this week to help raise money to care for the shelter animals.
Fundraisers can be held on August 19 - or anytime that week, and don't have to be confined to cupcakes. Other things to make include brownies, meringues, slices, muffins, doughnuts, or even a grazing table.
The charity says every dollar makes a difference. Just $20 provides an abandoned kitten with a warm bed, litter tray, and a meal for one night, $55 will buy antibiotics for a sick shelter dog, $150 will help desex an abandoned puppy and $350 helps keep an RSPCA inspector on the road fighting animal cruelty for another day.
