This weekend the Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise will host its annual book sale - but unlike in previous years, this time every book will go for the princely sum of $1.
"Every year we try to do something worthwhile with the profits," said club PR Director Maryka Gibson.
"In other years we've given to local schools, and last year we gave to the Emergency Department at Maitland Hospital.
"This year we thought there's no better cause than Drought Relief, so that's where the money will be going. Whatever we can do to help has to be a good thing."
According to Ms Gibson, they have thousands of books on the shelves.
"Funnily enough getting our hands on the books is never a problem," she said.
"We put a call out a few weeks beforehand that we're looking for books and invariably we get swamped.
"We have quite a wide range ... fiction, non fiction, art, cooking, crime, you name it. But it's very time consuming for our members.
"Firstly we check to make sure that everything is in good quality. Then we break them down into categories so that all the books of the same genre are together.
"Obviously that makes it a lot easier for buyers."
Ms Gibson said this year's sale may well be the club's last.
"I think all these fundraising events have a shelf life and we've been doing this for quite a few years now," she said. "Next year we'll try something new."
The sale is on at the Therry Centre, East Maitland from 9am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
