Gallery coordinator Kattie Bugeja told the Maitland Mercury, "It is hard to believe that it was 10 years ago that Margaret Olley stood on the front steps and declared this wonderful gallery open,"
To celebrate this milestone, everyone is invited to join the launch on Saturday, August 23, from 3pm of eight new exhibitions plus the unveiling of the permanent sculpture by internationally-known Australian artist from Maitland, Nell.
Before the launch there is Open Collection Store from 10am and Meet the Maker, Kes Harper, between 12noon and 4pm.
In 2 Places is the title given to the two concurrent exhibitions on now by Leslie Duffin. The Creator Incubator gallery is hosting one part and Duffin's own gallery, Finite Gallery, is hosting the other.
Detailed painting of plants and flowers adorn both gallery spaces until August 23.
Visit Back to Back Galleries this weekend between 11am and 5pm to see the latest exhibition by the Athena group, Sue Stewart, Helene Leane, Jeanne Harrison, Janette Kearns Wilson, Varelle Hardy, Margaret McBride, Bronwyn Greive, Lu Carson, Faye Collier and Pat Davidson.
Athena is the Greek Goddess of Wisdom and War, a patron of the arts and crafts, especially when it came to spinning and weaving. Members from this group meet and exhibit regular sharing their skills and knowledge. Included in this exhibition is printmaking, collage, textile art and ceramics.
Correction Point a collaborative exhibition by Joanna and Warwick O'Toole opened Friday, August 23, at Curve Gallery.
Combining the skills of a master woodturning with design eye of an artist, these works will surprise and delight everyone who visits. The gallery is open Thursday and Friday 11am to 4pm and Saturday 11am to 2pm.
Don't forget Hunter Arts Network presents ART BAZAAR on Sunday, August 25, from 10am to 3pm in Lambton Park. Over 70 art and craft, food and coffee stalls plus live music.
