The Blacks first grade lead the way when they meet Wanderers in the qualifying final with the winner to progress to the major semi-final against minor premiers Hamilton and the first shot at making the grand final.

The Maitland campaign starts on Friday when the Blacks meet Easts in the fourth grade social semi-finals at Townson Oval from 8.05pm.

Reserve grade, third grade and the women's team are all in action in elimination finals on Sunday.

"From a club point of view this is the first time we've had every grade in the finals for a long time," Blacks coach Matt Thomas said.

"It's a huge achievement for the club and says so much about the way we have built the success we are having in first grade.

"It's a whole club achievement, not just a team. We have great depth and have blooded more throughout the year with injuries but it has left us in good stead."

Thomas said it had taken all year but he at last had a full squad to pick from with the exception of wing Chris Martin, who is not available for selection this weekend because of work.

"Chris will be replaced in the starting line up by Sam Parkinson on the wing," he said.

"Apart from that everyone is fit and ready to go.

"It's only taken me all season to get the full squad to play together.

"I'm really looking forward to the big players stepping up in the big moments and we've got a team full of them.

"This is where our key players excel. We've got a fresh bench on Saturday, so there will be no holding back even though the bench will need to back up on Sunday.

"It is going to be a real tough game, we are playing at their home ground but we are not going to make any excuses. We are going to go down there to play.

"They've got some extremely quick players outside, they will try to attack us with line-speed in defence, they have some big bodies, they will come at us and attack us from every point of view.

"It's how we respond.

"We're a big side, we've got speed and a game plan to beat them."

Maitland won the two games between the two sides this season, winning 21-17 in round one and 15-12 in round 10.

"Both games this season have been real nail biters, there's no dominant side among us. We've beaten them twice but it has been by one or two points and it has gone right down to the bell," Thomas said.

"We've got to play a real hard, dominant style of game.

"A lot of times games like this come down to the bounce of the ball, a referee's call, but we want to take those out of the equation.

"It's time fore the leaders to step up. It's time for them now to adhere to the game plan, our style and lead our team forward in those really tough tight moments."

Thomas said the loser of the qualifying final had a second chance but it had not been discussed by himself or the players this week.

"We've viewed the second chance as a Plan B, if we start thinking about a Plan B then we've taken the focus off Plan A, so we're not even talking about it," he said.

"This week our opponent is Wanderers, our focus is to win this game and our focus is 100 per cent on winning this game. There is no plan B, we're not going to make excuses."
