Firefighters were called to a George Street property just after 1am where a shed had caught alight.
But Fire and Rescue NSW Duty Commander Paul Collis said when crews arrived the fire had spread to another backyard shed in Ada Street.
"So we had to work out of two streets," he said.
Four crews from three different stations battled to contain the blaze and managed to stop it spreading to other buildings or homes.
"They did well," Mr Collis said.
The fire was extinguished in about two hours. Mr Collis said firefighters were not able to determine a cause of the fire and had handed the incident over to police for investigation.
