Travelling from Helensvale, QLD to Rutherford, NSW between September 6 and 15 are 60 dedicated cyclists will take on the physical and mental challenge of Camp Quality's 1000 K's 4 Kids bike ride to raise awareness and funds for children with cancer.
They should arrive at the Bradford around midday.
This year's route passed through regional areas, visiting communities impacted by cancer including Walcha where the group will be stopped on Wednesday, September 11.
Andy Olrich, who lives in the Maitland area, is taking on the challenge for the second time. Andy took part in the ride for the first time in 2018 and raised an incredible $20,000 in memory of his nephew, Damon Olrich, who lost his battle with Leukemia.
"I had been wanting for years to do something to help out other kids and families that went through what ours did in what is such a difficult time," he said.
"After learning about the bike ride through a friends' Facebook I decided to take on the challenge. Even though it required a lot of hard work and personal sacrifice, the fun and achievement of the experience and the positive impact the funds and awareness raised does for these kids and their families, it is no surprise why so many sign up year after year."
In its ninth year, the Camp Quality 1000Ks 4 Kids event has attracted individuals from all walks of life to take on the challenge and create a wonderful environment where this roving community not only supports each other as they travel but also support the towns they visit on the route.
"The riders and support crew truly become family and it is a bond that is forged through blood, sweat, tears and heaps and heaps of laughs; that help you to get through the challenge day after day," Andy said.
Along with the riders and support crew, Camp Quality' Primary School Education Program travels with them, including puppets Kylie, Mel and Dean who will visit the local schools on route spreading the power of positivity and teaching kids about cancer.
