The project is a joint initiative of NSW Health Infrastructure, Hunter New England Local Health District and Maitland City Council and aims to catalogue and collect treasures from the history site.
Consultants Joseph Eisenberg OAM and Janis Wilton OAM, who are working on the project said it has certainly interested locals. "We're delighted with the community response and the value it has in telling a story about Maitland," Ms Wilton said.
They were also pleased to hear from late Maitland historian Harry Boyle's son, Geoff, who will donate a board containing the names of the hospital's centenary year (1942) board of directors.
It has about 25 names including dietician Miss E Christie, radiographer Dr JB Armstrong, dispenser RD Armstrong and dental surgeon SWG Armstrong.
Mr Eisenberg and Ms Wilton are happy to hear from members of the public who think they may have hospital memorabilia they would like to share. The items would be documented and photographed. "This is a discovery process that has certainly grown," Mr Eisenberg said.
