She is as passionate about it now as she was when she signed up in 1970. There's just one slight problem.
The city's once-thriving Maitland Musical Society Orchestra can now barely call itself that - it has lost so many members that it is more like an ensemble.
There is no drummer, percussionist or horn player.
There is no double bass or cello or viola. There is only one trombonist - and the orchestra needs two. The clarinet players also need a boost.
Fortunately, one member can play several instruments - although obviously, not at once.
Mrs Gregg said the members did their best to cover up the lack of extra instruments and she looked forward to a repeat of the old days when the orchestra was brimming with musicians.
"We need a lot of players to bring the orchestra back to what it should be, and what it used to be. It's very special for Maitland to have its own orchestra and I'd like to see it continue. I've been in it since the beginning."
If you have assumed this is a classical orchestra - and perhaps that is the cause of its lack of players, think again.
"We're not a classic orchestra at all - we play things like Under the Boardwalk, Mamma Mia, The Beetles - tunes people know," Mrs Gregg said.
The skilled violinist is calling on musicians to join up. That's the only way the orchestra can survive.
"We need musicians that are confident in their instrument and are confident about performing," she said.
The orchestra, well, what's left of it, will perform at the Masonic Lodge on Saturday, October 26.
The 'Celebration of Music' opens at 1.30pm for a 2pm start and last year the event sold out.
A High Tea will be served during the event. Cost is $35 per person. Tickets must be booked by October 19. Book at maitlandmusicals.org or call 0432345377.
