In a surprise move, Test batsman Marnus Labuschagne and Ashes squad member Michael Neser are a chance to play in Queensland's domestic One Day Cup opener against NSW on Sunday.
The pair were expected to be rested after arriving home from a long Ashes campaign on Wednesday.
But they have been included in a 14-strong squad for the Bulls' clash against the Blues and Tuesday's showdown with South Australia, both at Brisbane's Allan Border Field.
Queensland chairman of selectors Justin Sternes said the Ashes duo would play against SA but were yet to give a final verdict on their availability for their team's competition opener.
"It's more likely they would play on Tuesday once they have had some time to rest and recuperate," he said.
"But we will see how they pull up and make a final call closer to the NSW game."
Australia batsman Usman Khawaja will be rested for Queensland's opening two games of the 50-over competition.
But Sternes said the Ashes tourist was a chance of contesting their next clashes against Victoria on September 29 and October 1.
Queensland will take on the new-look Blues who opted to sideline their Ashes stars Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and David Warner.
Nick Bertus, Matthew Gilkes, Liam Hatcher, and Nathan McAndrew are on track to make their NSW debuts with leadership duties left to the likes of Kurtis Patterson, Moises Henriques and Sean Abbott.
