On Thursday, Hunter Valley Grammar School's graduating class hosted a special farewell assembly before a luncheon with parents and staff members.
The assembly featured musical items, comical performances and speeches thanking staff and schoolmates.
Principal Paul Teys said the class of 2019 was an "extremely talented bunch".
"It's a chance for them to celebrate and to enjoy their last day and thank the school, but also for the school to say farewell and congratulate them," he said.
"It formally closes their school time in a dignified and celebratory way."
Perhaps the sweetest moment of the morning was a speech delivered by two Kindergarten children.
During the year, the senior students participated in a Big Brother, Big Sister program with the school's Kindergarten to Year 2 classes.
This was a chance for the younger grades to thank their role models for their leadership. Mr Teys encouraged the school's most senior students to be "aspirational" heading into their Higher School Certificate exams, and beyond.
"We encourage them to be true to themselves, take any opportunity that comes their way, and above all else to be people of character," he said.
