The Redwood Drive child care centre, which will cater for 144 children, received unanimous support from councillors last week.
The proposed building, which will be operated by St Nicholas Early Education, is single storey and designed to cater for children aged 0-5 years.
The development will incorporate indoor and outdoor play areas, nappy change, bottle preparation/activity areas, cot room, kitchen, office/reception, laundry, drying area, plant area, staff verandah and associated amenities.
The application was notified and advertised between May 29 and June 12, and one submission was received.
The key issues arising from the submission raise concern in regard to the centre being in close proximity to two already approved centre, which are not yet constructed, and the ability of three child care centres to be sustainable within the Gillieston Heights area.
