The local association has committed more than $435,000 in funding to increase the scope of works as part of the reconstruction of Maitland Park Netball Courts.
President Kim Starkey said the figure came from the association's members with the upgrade benefiting them directly.
"It might be a council owned facility, it is ours. So if we can help contribute with council then it's the best thing for our sport," she said.
"We want to have the best facility in regional NSW if possible. We have a membership of over 2500, and within the Hunter we are the second largest club. It's good for us to be investing in our sport but also our facility."
The funds are in addition to the previously awarded $827,592 granted to Council from the NSW Government as part of the Stronger Country Community Fund - Round 2 Program.
Ms Starkey said the dream is the eventual upgrade of all 32 courts at Maitland Park.
"It will make us the only facility outside of Sydney capable of hosting championships. At the end of the day, all our members play on those courts every Saturday so it's great for them.
"It's something we've been working towards for a number of years. It's great that we've had the support of Council and received the grant.
"It's really exciting."
With the additional funding from Maitland Netball Association, the total works will now include the reconstruction of 17 courts.
"This is a significant injection of money from the Maitland Netball Association and demonstrates their commitment to the sport in the area," Maitland Council's Community and Recreation manager Laurie D'Angelo said.
"The completed works will continue to support a healthy and active community and highlights the success of good management within a local sporting association."
The works have already commenced, and are expected to be completed by February 2020.
