The Hunter River Dragons have returned from Adelaide with a swag of medals for the the 17th Australian Masters Dragon Boating Competition earlier this month.

Hunter River Dragons team members competed in the Senior A (30-years plus) Senior B (50-years-plus) and Senior C (60-years-plus) division at the titles which drew more than 1000 competitors in 115 races of 20 and 10 member boats.
Senior C members of Hunter River Dragons joined with Central Coast Dragons to form HR/CC while the younger members combined with NSW Motley Crew in the A and B categories.
Margaret Beckett, Trish (Bundy) Challinor, Fiona Lyon and Irene Hemsworth won gold paddling with with Newcastle Dragons Abreast in a team called Pink Dragon Hunters in the 20s. Beckett, Challinor and Lyon also won gold in the 10s
The Motley Crew members were extremely successful with Alicia Sagar winning gold in both the Senior B 20 and 10's.
Husband and wife duos Trudi and Rodney Hazell and Claire and Mikki Aram along with Harmony Wilson, Michele Thomas and Karen Montgomery won silver in the Senior A mixed 20s with the ladies also winning silver in the women's 20s and bronze in the women's 10s.
Rodney and Mikki claimed bronze in the Senior A men's 20s with Montgomery joining them to get bronze in the Senior-A Open.
Gary Raftery along with Central Coast compatriots Neil Strang and Bill Aiken won bronze with Deep Water Club in the Senior B men's 20s.
The club will be competing in a regatta at Forster on November 16-17 in the open 2km race on Saturday then the 200m races on Sunday.
Prior to that three of the club's breast cancer members will be travelling to Canberra for their 20th anniversary on Lake Burley Griffin on November 8-9.
The club is holding three beginners' sessions starting on Sunday. The sessions start at 8.30am and anyone interested can call Dragons coach Marie on 0404 468 433 to book.
