Play at Coronation Oval is up in the air after vandals flooded the pitch area during the week.
The Plovers will be without star batsman Tom Irwin and Aaron Mahony who are playing with Central North in the representative cricket this weekend.
City United lose paceman Tim Baker to Central North duties as well and leading batsman Josh Trappel is unavailable this week.
All four players will be available for the day two of the clash next week.
City United skipper Matt Trappel said he was confident of having the depth to cover the absence of his brother and Baker and was comfortable batting or bowling.
"Unfortunately we can't come up against Wests with both teams at their strongest," he said.
"The top two teams in form at the moment. All the boys are up for it and regardless of who is on the field this week it will be a great game. The toss is probably a little bit more important for Wests as Aaron and Tim are keys to their batting line-up."
The depth of City's reserves is highlighted by quality experienced batsman Anru Kriel coming in to replace Josh Trappel and young representative bowler Jordan Murphy stepping up for Baker.
Trappel has been delighted with the form of his side and how well the new players coming in had gelled with the others in the first two rounds of the competition.
"The scores haven't reflected how hard we've been pushed during our two games," Trappel said.
"In both games there have been times when we've had our backs against the wall and had to show a bit of fight.
"They've been two good wins, which is the best thing about it."
Trappel said it appeared bigger scores would be needed this season to be competitive, with the wickets flat and outfields super fast.
"Last week against Tenambit, we thought we would get 190 plus but that it was a decent score.
"But then obviously we did in 16 overs with some exceptional batting from Andrew (Vickery) and our top order we managed a pretty convincing win.
"It's a bit hard work for the bowlers, our batsmen are getting scores but the bowlers have been toiling really hard and getting results for us."
Trappel said it was great to see Vickery enjoy his cricket so much.
"He is allowed to bat at the top of the order with a lot more freedom that he was when he was at Easts with the captaincy and the team struggling.
"This is how he batted when he was previously at City and it's great to see."
