The event at Maitland High School is an initiative of Rainbow Bricks - a Lego user group based in the Newcastle-Central Coast area.
Rainbow Bricks Ambassador Kevin Evans said the group was made up mainly of adults, who see the hobby as "another art medium", similar to painting or sculpting.
Mr Evans said there would be some impressive Lego displays at the event.
He said some creations can take 12 hours to make just following instructions and involve up to a year of planning to acquire the right pieces.
"We always get people amazed by the size and how long it takes to put them together," Mr Evans said.
One piece that will be on display is a space shuttle, which is made up of 26,700 Lego bricks.
And once the masterpieces have been displayed, Mr Evans said they're often dismantled for the user to start a new project.
As well as the displays, Brickfest will include a build area for attendees to have a play, a barbecue, raffle and the Hunter Heroes will also be in attendance.
The event runs 10am - 4pm. Cost is $5 a person or $15 a family and all profits will go to Largs Public School and East Maitland Scouts.
