"We believe the lineup of riders is a record for the event," said club race secretary, Maree Dall.

"The list includes world champions, international champions, Australian champions, State champions and eight riders who have just finished riding in either the British, Polish and Swedish speedway leagues and we don't think that can be matched from the past."

In all 18 riders have nominated for this year's championship and Motorcycling NSW will now decide the 16 riders to officially compete for title honours.

Former World Speedway Champion Chris Holder has nominated. He will be shooting for his sixth NSW Speedway Solo Championship to add to his impressive five Australian Speedway titles.

Holder has just completed a 'double up' speedway season in Europe riding for Torun in the Polish League and Gislaved in the Swedish League.

Defending NSW champion Jack Holder, Chris' younger brother, has also nominated for this year's championship.

Last weekend at Gillman Speedway in South Australia, he won the inaugural FIM Oceania Speedway Solo Championship ahead of an international field.

Jack Holder will defend the NSW Speedway Solo Championship at Kurri Kurri Speedway having captured the title at Cowra last year.

He has just completed a hugely busy speedway season riding for Poole in the British League, for Torun in the Polish League and Vastervik in the Swedish League.

Former Australian Speedway Solo Champions Sam Masters and Rohan Tungate are both included in this year's nominations.

Masters, from Newcastle, and Tungate, from Pelaw Main, will be carrying the hopes of local fans along with other talented Hunter riders including Jye Etheridge, Isaac Hawes, Mitch Cluff, Josh and Alan Macdonald, Josh Pickering and Kane Lawrence who have also nominated.
