He's out of hospital and will fly home for Christmas.
Johey Basedow, the young Pelaw Main lad who underwent 20-hours of surgery to remove 3000 deadly tumours from his abdomen, has continued to defy the odds.
His mum Emma said Johey is back at Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with his family and extremely pleased to have left hospital.
But the best news of all is that the St Peter's, Maitland student will be home for Christmas.
"We're back to an apartment at Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill, just five minutes away from hospital," Emma said.
"We will be here for two weeks of further recovery before we fly home arriving on the 20th December in Sydney."
Johey will have a post-op follow up with with specialist Dr Hayes-Jordan this Thursday and will have his staples removed at the same time.
"He has had a great recovery," Emma said.
"He is very pleased to be back here in a comfortable bed with his family.
"He's on oral pain meds and overnight tube feeds until he gets a bit more strength back but it's all up and up," she said.
