Historic railway carriages once used on The Newcastle Flyer and an original dining car from the Indian Pacific will form part of a traing that will make a special charity trek from Broadmeadow to Werris Creek this weekend.

The Hunter Valley Railway Trust, the Picnic Train, Sydney Rail Services and the Hunter Valley Railway Workshops and Museum have organised the trip to raise funds for a young local man suffering cancer.
Spokesperson for the group Chris Richards said Taylor Williams a local who has been a volunteer at the North Rothbury Rail Museum since he was 12 years old.
"He sadly has terminal cancer and he has a wife and young family to provide for in the future," Mr Richards said.
Taylor joined Southern Shorthaul Railroad in 2009, becoming a driver there in 2016 before moving to Genesee & Wyoming in 2018, where he drives coal trains in the NSW Hunter Valley.
On the 22 September, two days before Taylor's 27th birthday, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel and liver cancer.
The trip will be using the rail museum's historic railway carriages used on the Newcastle flyer and a fully restored 1950s streamlined diesel electric locomotive.
The train will consist of air-conditioned and non air conditioned carriages with an original Indian Pacific dining car and bar facilities. The train also will have comfortable 1950s style air conditioned lounge cars.
Complimentary hot and cold finger food plus cheese platters will be available all day. There are two bars in the Zephyr Club Lounges where beverages can be purchased.
There will be a 90 minute stop at Werris Creek where you can stretch your legs and visit the Australian Railway Monument and Rail Journeys Museum located within the station precinct.
On the return journey, The Blue Zephyr will whisk you home through the golden afternoon sun and into the night.
