Tszyu was in line to fight Carlos Adames for the WBO belt had the Dominican boxer won his interim title bout last weekend, but he was upset by Brazilian Patrick Teixeira.

"The fact that it fell over is over is OK, thats boxing," Tszyu's manager Glen Jennings told AAP.

"People are asking now what's Tim's next fight, we can't say because its a big jigsaw puzzle and we have to watch to see the results of other fights."

Tszyu was philosophical about not getting the chance to fight Adames for a title.

"A world title is what I want and I've still got my eyes on it, at the moment I've got Jack Brubaker in front of me." Tszyu told AAP.

The 25-year-old Sydneysider's promoter Matt Rose said he is speaking to Teixeira's management.

Asked if a fight with Teixeira was a possibility, Rose said "Absolutely."

Tszyu is ranked 12th by the WBO, five places lower than the IBF, in which American Julian Williams is the champion.

"I like the WBO route at the moment," Rose said.

"Teixeira, I think Tim beats in a very hard world title fight.

"Williams I think is probably a little bit out of our reach at the moment."

Jennings stressed there was no rush to get his charge a title shot.

"The preference would be for another 12 months of working on his craft and maturing," Jennings said.

"There's a big difference between having a world title fight and winning one and unfortunately there's a trail of (Australian) guys who have gone over and come home without the goodies."

Tszyu was intent on punishing Brubaker in Sydney on Friday for what he perceived as disrespectful comments.

"I'm going to teach him respect," Tszyu said.

"I get to punch someone in the face that's been talking smack, what a great job."

The exuberant Brubaker said he had just been selling the fight.

"I've been cheeky but I haven't been too disrespectful and I haven't said anything harsh or nasty," Brubaker told AAP.

'"It's all about getting people talking and it's worked."
