Saturday, Grand Junction Hotel
The iconic Grand Junction Hotel is firing up the barbecue and opening its doors to 'do its part' to support rural firefighters battling the state's devastating blazes. The fundraiser for the Rural Fire Service will be held on Saturday with the Church Street pub opening at 12pm, and a range of live entertainment beginning at 2pm.

Charity train ride
Saturday, Broadmeadow to Werris Creek
Historic railway carriages once used on The Newcastle Flyer and an original dining car from the Indian Pacific will form part of a train that will make a special charity trek from Broadmeadow to Werris Creek this weekend. Tickets from $55. The trip is to raise funds for local man Taylor Williams who is suffering cancer. The train departs Maitland Station at 9.30am, returning at 8.20pm.
Colesbourne Carols
Friday, Closebourne Village
Get into the festive spirit with Christmas carols on the front lawn of Morpeth House at Closebourne Village. There will be a sausage sizzle, coffee cart and Christmas stalls. The event starts at 6pm runs until 8.45pm.
Christmas movie screening
Saturday, Morpeth Common
Screenings of three Christmas movies (Home Alone, Muppets Christmas Carol and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation) at 8pm. The event begins at 7pm with entertainment, food trucks and popcorn.
Sculpture Service
Sunday, Anglican Parish of St Mary's in Maitland
A special service will be held for the dedication of the new bronze scuplture titled Madonna and Child at 9am. Then, at 2pm, Maitland's Counterpoint Choir will perform festive tunes.
