After missing the first round, Sunerton has recorded a second place and two wins in the feature races at Valvoline Raceway.
Championship points are kept secret, however, unofficial calculations put Sunerton at the top of the table after five rounds.
"When I missed the first round I didn't give myself much hope of being competitive in the club series," Sunerton said.
"The second round I qualified first and we have a Cash Cow Challenge that is if you are No.1 on the grid you can opt to start at the rear of the field and collecting $10 for each car you pass.
"Amazingly I finished second in it and then with the two feature wins since I'm probably near the top.
"It's a secret points core so nothing is official but I'm certainly up there in the mix."
Sunerton collected $240 in the process passing an amazing 24 cars to just lose.
Since then she has qualified second on the grid twice for the feature but won both events.
"Both weeks that I've won I got offered the challenge again but only because the car that finished poll didn't take it.
"I qualified second both nights, I said 'No' to the offer as I feel it should be a poll car challenge and not involve any other car.
"It just doesn't have the same ring to risking poll to start at the back.
"Who knows if I'll take the challenge next time I finish poll knowing that I am in the running for the championship now.
Sunerton won from Shaun Isherwood and Stephen Kurtz on Saturday night in tough conditions for passing or even surviving even the slightest error.
"The track was very different on Saturday night," she said. "It was almost a one-lane track to a degree. It was easy to make a mistake on it was very slippery. It would have been too hard to be evasive when you needed to be."
The Western Sydney Street Stockers Championship series takes a break until the end of January, but drivers will be in action on Boxing Day and on January 3 in non-championship events.
Sunerton is unsure whether she will be able to defend her Aussie title as it looks set to be brought forward to February 14 which would clash with another commitment.
