Maitland and District Cricket Association is entering two teams, split geographically, into the Twenty-20 competition which starts on January 14.
All games will be played in Newcastle with a mixture of midweek and Sunday fixtures at various grounds.
Flood, which incorporates City United, Northern Suburbs, Western Suburbs and Kurri Weston, will be captained by Wests skipper Tom Irwin and starts their campaign against Whips at Newcastle No.1 Sportsground on Thursday, January 16.
Magic, taking in Raymond Terrace, Port Stephens, Thornton, Tenambit-Morpeth and Easts, is captained by Thornton's Dan Willis and starts their campaign against Seagulls at Lynn Oval on Wednesday, January 15.
Maitland cricket stalwart Matt Trappel said each team was eligible to play up to two marquee players and once they had been finalised selection of overall squad would proceed.
Trappel and Maitland representative cricket secretary Lincoln Mills will work with Willis and Irwin in selecting the squads for the two teams.
Trappel said inclusion of the Maitland teams in the Newcastle T20 Summer Bash was a major step forward for Maitland representative cricket.
"It's a great opportunity for our young and upcoming cricketers to get good exposure and I think we will do very well," he said
We're still chasing marquee players. We can have two marquees in each teams, I'm not sure if will both spots but we're trying to lock them in by later this week and then wee will be starting to lock in a few teams.
"There are players who have experience from the Hunter Hitmen such as Tom Irwin, Aaron Mahony, Tim Baker, Josh Trappel in the West team.
"In the East team we have the likes of Dan Willis and maybe Jaymes Thomas if he is available.
"They will be two pretty strong teams and we're looking for some marquee players from either Tamworth, Central Coast or a couple of Sydney players to help out there."
